Collagraphy is a low toxic method of printing using boards made by collaging a variety of textures (such as tape, sandpaper,string, embossed wrapping paper, thick glue, lace) and also by drawing into the boards by scratching and incising. Collography allows the artist to print multi-coloured layered images using oil paints or water soluble printing inks. The method lends itself to experimentation because of the variety of materials and textures that can be collaged. Sometimes the results are quite unpredictable and can push an artist to work in new directions.
