Image transfer onto Lino. Cutting and mark making with dremels in plastic, printing, collage and a book assemblage demo. Participants will create layered prints with multiple techniques and observe ways to incorporate these works into books.
Over the past 35 years of creative practice, Bronwyn Rees has focused on making richly textured prints and ground breaking experimental books, that express her particular vision of Australia’s landscape and wilderness areas. Evoking the inherent beauty of these natural spaces, Rees communicates a poignant environmental message. Over the past 10 years Rees has been Artist in Residence at the Firestation Print Studio.
Rees is an accomplished artist with works held in many state collections including the National Library, and also internationally in the British Library. She teachers her techniques across Australia, and holds regular Workshops at the Firestation Print Studio. Rees' exhibits broadly, nationally and in Britain and New Zealand, currently Rees is preparing for a show at the Box Hill Gallery and will show a series of her artists books at the Australian Print Workshop this October/November.
Throughout Rees’ printmaking oeuvre, nature is represented as powerful, potent and unsettling. Through her meandering lines and expressive mark-making skills, the artist taps into the wild, unseen energies that exist in the locations she chooses to represent. Layering multiple techniques, both her prints and Artists Books hold the viewers eye as they discover something new in colour, texture and line, in every glance.
