What- An exhibition by Samantha Thompson utilizing mixed media and lino print.
When- Thursday 1 Oct - 6 to 8 pm- Running to Sat the 17th October 2015
Where- Firestation Print Gallery - 2 Willis Street, Armadale, Vic
Boxes of colour and energy typify this new series of work by Samantha Thompson, this being her 12th major exhibition, where we are again confronted with the variety of her palette. From the gracefulness of swans and women swimming to flying frogs and dragonflies these works present us with colour in motion. This dream world is constantly evolving and changing.
The variety of media utilised by Samantha in this collection allows her work to take on an almost dance-like quality. Yet these figures seem to float in isolation, captured as they are in a variety of three dimensional spaces.
The layering of this dream world adds sophistication to her already compelling work. By placing together the organic natural image with the abstract method boxed in as one, her use of form has entered a new level of density that begs us for our involvement as voyeurs to her reverie.
The works will be displayed, as is traditional, between 6 and 8 pm on the opening Thursday night, along with complementary wine. All are welcome
