GLEN SKIEN "Material Thinking: The Poetics of Process" FULL PRICE
$390 / $350 members
Material Thinking: The Poetics of Process is presented by artist/printmaker Glen Skien as a print-based workshop that blends printmaking, collage and assemblage works. The outcomes are guided by a combination of intuitive and experimental approaches to printmaking methods. Designed around the artist’s personal studio practice participants will be instructed in a variety of print techniques including drypoint etching, monotypes, photographic transfer, and collage-based responses. Using ephemera materials and the photographic image in combination with printbased methods, participants will be made aware that all materials are embedded with a range of associations that help form cultural, historical, or personal narratives.
2 day weekend workshop, June 25th and 26th, 10am - 4pm
- 3 sheets of your own preferred printmaking paper
- Any participant wanting to experiment with fabric surfaces is most welcome.
- Five or six A5 photographic images of students own choice printed from a Laser printer. It is important that these images be printed from a Laser printer. (Office Works use Laser printers)
- a selection of low relief ephemera materials. For example, remnants of fabric with patterns for use in monotypes.
- Collage materials. Any ephemeral materials or photocopied images that can be incorporated into print works
- Any remnants of coloured rice papers.
